December 3, 1997From: JT Subject: 77's To Play Your
      Home Town
ANYONE INTERESTED IN BRINGING THE 77'S TO TOWN?!?! Mike's solo tour was
just the beggining of the 88 "prayer and a promise." Now's your chance to
play promoter, assistant promoter or pointman for the real deal -- Mike,
Mark and Bruce -- rock-n-roll icons, the 77's. Long, cold winter...cold,
cold night, Nah -- this'll keep you busy and give you and the other local
fans something to cheer about after Christmas has "come and gone."
Here's the deal: Mike, Mark and Bruce would like to do some light
touring this Winter and early Spring. What I'd like to do, with your help,
is schedule blocks of 2 and 3 shows for concert weekends a couple of times
in the coming months. Who knows, maybe you'll catch a note or two from one
of the new songs the guys are working up right now. Eventually, a 77's
full Summer/Fall '98 tour is the goal. Want 'em to stop in your area? Let
me know. And, even if you can't promote the show yourself, let us know of
someone who can bring the 7's to town...local business sponsors,
ministries, clubs and bars, you name it. We're only hampered by our
      creativity, so let it go!
       Please, serious inquiries only -- (812) 882-1303 (w); (812) 886-4637
      (h) (between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. EST only please).
Give me a call, spread the word, repost this message!!!

      November 25, 1997From: JT Subject: Mike's URGENT
      Prayer Request
      Hello all:
Last night in an otherwise relaxed converasation w/ Mike, he got real
serious for a couple of minutes and asked that I convey the following to
the list and request that you take the same to your friends, churches,
pastors, family and anyone you know that will take this prayer request
seriously. This is a lengthy post, but please know that Mike wanted the
      whole of this "story" posted.
Mike has a very dear friend, Marc Kielich, who has been, since the age
of 16, a student of Mike's. Mike eventually became so impressed with this
former student that he wanted to do a project or two with him. As a
result, Mike and Marc formed two "side" bands called Helicopter and Orbis
(Orbis is an instrumental duo). Mike mentioned that playing with Marc,
"has given me more musical joy than almost anything else I have ever
done." In fact, Mike was looking forward to presenting to us fans the art
of Helicopter and Orbis at an appropriate time. CDs of the work have been
shopped to various recording companies and Mike and Marc have caught the
attention of Warner Brothers -- they have indicated that they are very
      interested in the projects.
This friend, Marc, however, is desperately in need of our prayer
coverage. Marc has had, for the past four years, a very significant brain
tumor. Recently, the tumor has been growing and is "closing in on Marc."
Obviously, Mike is very concerned. Marc has a wife and a three year old
daughter that soon look like they will be without a husband and father.
      Unless...
At this point in our coversation Mike mentioned how the parallels of
this situation and that of David Leonhardt's earlier illness are
      staggering...a former student, a band mate, a life-threatening
disease...And, Mike believes that the only reason that David is still here
with us is that the fans "prayed him through and God heard the prayers of
the fans." Mike is once again asking that the fans, their family, friends,
churches, etc. extend their faith and earnestly pray for Marc. He is
convinced that Marc's hope rests in the prayers of you and me.
Finally, Mike stated that, "This is more important than anything the
band is doing," and that, "This is what really matters...what this band is
really about." Please pray for Marc and please write to Mike letting him
know that your prayers are covering Marc. Just drop Mike a short note at
P.O. Box 1441, Citrus Heights, CA 95611. Mike will take the notes to Marc
and show him the letters which accompany our prayers. Please allow me to
convey Mike's thank you for your concern and action. I'll continue to post
      updates as I get them.

Subject: video and
      touring comments
Thom McKee just posted an interesting tidbit to the 77's discussion
list that i definitely wanted to help spread the word about:
       > Mike and I are on the final stages of putting together the 77's
first > retrospective video. It has all of their videos, lots of
interviews, > behind the scenes footage, and lots of extra
stuff. > > The only problem is that we are looking for some
extra footage. We > especially are looking to see if anyone has a

if you were fortunate enough to attend one of the recent Mike Roe "it's
for you" tour stops and haven't yet sent me a concert review, please do so
soon. i've already put up 29 reviews, but there are still some cities that
are completely unaccounted for: Wheaton, IL, Minneapolis, MN, Oak Park,
IL, Warsaw, IN, Windsor, Ontario/Canada, Atlanta, GA, Little Rock, AR,
Orlando, FL, Jackson, MS, and Tacoma, WA. to see all the reviews point
      your browser at: http://www.77s.com/concerts/reviews/97_its_for_you_tour.html.
JT asked me to post the following info on the website, but i thought it
was worth sending to the mailing list also...
       steve -----------
       (1) Promoter's Contest Winners: The winner of the Michael Roe "It's For
You" promoter accomodations contest will be announced within a week. Mike
has indicated that it is a close race, but that one victorious promoter
will soon emerge. Remember, at stake here is the shirt Mike worn on the
cover of "All Fall Down." Also, Brian Heydn indicates that he is busily
finishing the promoters' "drawing" sweepstakes -- a promoter's name will
soon be drawn at random and he/she will win an original Roe/Leonhardt
drawing as featured on www.77s.com. Stay tuned...
       (2) It's For You O' Canada: Canandian promoters interested in bringing
Mike to your neck of the woods please contact JT at (812) 886-4637 (h) after 7:00
p.m. central time. Mike is available for winter solo gigs or with a full
back-up band (sorry, it's not the 77's). Please call or write regarding
      serious inquiries.
       (3) Jan/Feb '98 Mike Roe solo gigs: Mike will be back on the tour trail
this winter and is specifically interested in "doing" the East coast.
Interested promoters please contact JT. There will be an anchor weekend in
New Jersey with a confirmed show in Manville. Other NJ gigs are presently
being booked and it looks like Mike will do a 3 day weekend of shows in NJ
in Jan/Feb. Dates will be announced soon. If you want in on the action,
please call or write for details and regarding questions.
       (4) The 77's are accepting fly dates from interested promoters as the
guys have talked about doing some light touring here in the next few
      months. Contact JT.
       (5) Finally, here is your standing invitation to have Mike play your
local bar, coffeehouse, school or other venue (although, seriously,
churches are discouraged as Mike is more open to testify before society's
cross-section than to the "churched"). Fly dates are always accepted for
weekend or other shows so long as air fare and minimum finances are
covered. Call or write for details. Please, only serious offers or
      questions.

October 6, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Echoes CD's
I've noticed I've been getting a few questions regarding the assumed
"unplayability" of the Echoes O' Faith CD's.
The fact is, some older CD players may not be able to play it, because
it is packed with 80 minutes of music. In other words, the CD is PACKED
with information. We had trouble finding a manufacturer for these because
      they are so long.
So, regretably for some of you it may mean that you need to purchase a
newer model CD player. Have a friend check yours out to see if his/her
machine will play it, and this will determine if the CD is defective,
which in most cases it is not.
       Take Care
       Don

News flash - the full frontal nudity thing was sort of a joke - you'll
just have to see the shirt to understand... I just updated the Reviews page and added a page for
      fan reviews of the It's

September 23, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: It's For All Of
      You!!
      Hello once again everybody!
I wish I was writting you under different circumstances, because we're
pretty shocked and in mourning over the loss of one of CCM's
greatest---Rich Mullins. He died this last weekend in a terrible car
accident in Illinois. When we first heard the news, we were told that both
Rich and his drummer were killed in the wreck. As most of you know, 77's
allumnus Aaron Smith has been performing regularly with Rich, and we were
frantic to find out if Aaron was involved. If any good news is to come out
of this, it is that Aaron WAS NOT involved in the wreck. This is not to
take away from the great loss those of us who appreciated Rich's music
feel right now. Our hearts and prayers go out to Rich's family...he is
truly at the right hand of God right now celebrating eternity with the
      Lord.
Please also pray for Aaron, as he is understandably pretty tore up over
the whole thing. May God comfort him and his family who were pretty close
to Rich, along with Jimmy A's family (pray for them too).
For those of you who have written me asking for Brian Healy's email
address, so that you may send your congratulations on his new child
personally, write him at BrianDAS1@aol.com. Let's inundate him
      with congratulatory emails!!!
One more piece of dissapointing news : It has been official now for
several weeks, but Love Coma have split up. If you have not yet purchased
their CD "language Of Fools" which was produced by our own Mike Roe you
need to hurry and write either Chris Taylor or Greg Carnes : Love Coma
P.O. Box 33544 San Antonio, Texas, 78265. I dare say that it is one of my
favorite albums, and it should be in everyone's collection! (In my opinion
      anyway).
Mike flies out of Sacramento here tommorow to meet up with Dave
Leonhardt and start the "Mike Roe It's For You Tour". Mike and I have made
a little sound bite for y'all with my new cpu! (For those of you who care,
I finally upgraded my 486SX33 with 16M RAM and 14.4 Modem to an AMD100Mhz
Pentium clone, with a stereo sound card, 8X CD-ROM, 33.6 Modem, and 2 more
hard drives which brings my total capacity to a whopping 700MB! I still
have 16MB RAM, but that will change soon (hehe). Donations of hard drives
and the newest version of Page Maker for Win95 on CD-ROM will be gladly
      accepted.... :P
      Enjoy!
I hope that many of you get to see Mike and Dave on this tour! Be sure
to pack the places they play, because they will be recording almost every
night. Some of the best performances from the tour will appear on the
"It's For You" CD which will be released hopefully in time for Christmas.
So go and make as much noise as you can!!!!
While Mike is gone, Mark and Bruce are going to start putting together
the next 77's album!!!! When they went to Sweden last year, they made
several hotel room recordings of new ideas. When all 3 of them rehearsed
last week they made a live full band demo of one of the tunes, and if it
is any indication of what the next 77's studio album is gonna be like,
it's gonna ROCK!!!!! For those of you who got into "tom tom Blues" the new
material is "a logical progression, or step up from that material" says
Mike. For those of you who didn't get "tom tom", and couldn't relate to
it, this new stuff will certainly "Rock the flock and make the devil's
horns to lock." I am really excited about the new material, can you tell?
Also while Mike is gone, I'll be finishing up the new newsletter which
will be called "Mark My Words" featuring interviews with Mark Proctor,
Mark Tootle, and Mark Harmon. This will be out and in the mail by the
      first of November...Mark my words!!!!
Speaking of the newsletter, I have one bit of information. Each week I
receive on an average about 25-30 new mailing list requests, which is
outstanding!! However, each time we write and mail out a newsletter, it
literally costs the band hundreds of dollars, which sometimes really
drains the old bank account. So, for those of you who have filled out the
mailing list request on-line, we ask that you consider sending in a
donation of any amount to help befray the costs of printing and postage of
nearly 1000 newsletters. If you feel so led to send in something send it
to 77's LTD P.O. Box 1441 Citrus Heights, CA 95611. Be sure to make a note
saying that the money is for the fan club and newsletter. Of course, this
does NOT mean that you won't be receiving newsletters via snail mail if
you don't pay. EVERYONE on our list will get them, so if you can afford a
few bucks to help those who can't send anything, your reward remains.
I realize that in the time I've taken over responsiblity for The 77's
Fan Club (going on 2 years now), I have only released 3 newsletters. Some
of you have written me scolding me for not putting out as many newsletters
as I first promised. This is due to several reasons, one of which being a
poor computer. It was hard and laborious to design and print those
newsletters on my old machine. Now that I have upgraded to the modern
world and am once again excited about computing, look for more frequent
mailings and changes to "Fools Of The World".
For those of you who submitted artwork for the new newsletter logo, be
patient. Steve and I will get them up on the homepage soon so that all of
you can vote on which one should be the new "Fools" logo....I haven't
forgotten!!!! (Note from Steve: I don't have time to work on this
particular project. If you'd be willing to take this on for Don and tally
up the votes then please reply to this message and let Don know what your
      ideas are...)
Well, that's all for now. Please pray for Mike and Dave, may God bless
them with outstanding performances and keep them safe out there on the
      road....
       God Bless!!!!
       Don Bown

September 19, 1997From: Steve Johnson Subject:
      Miscellaneous news
ok - this is kind of a combo mail message/mini-newsletter so that you
      can all stay informed.
if you're not also on the 77's discussion list (which most of you
aren't) then you may not know what JT is talking about when he mentions
the "nude" discussion. basically, Mike Roe and Mark Harmon have created a
little stir by putting a picture of Mike nude on the "It's For You" tour
shirt. it's mostly a joke which you really won't understand until you
actually see the shirt. (i'll be putting a picture of the shirt on the
website as soon as i get it or after the tour, whichever Mike prefers.)
       ----- >From David Leonhardt
       Hey Steve,
This is David Leonhardt. Did you know I'm playing with Mike on the
"It's For You" tour? I didn't know if you were aware of this and I thought
you might want to mention it on the web site (which is looking very cool).
Mike & I discussed which songs we would like to play and we decided
      - all of them. We will literally play any song that the 77's have ever
done. It will be up to the people at the show as to what we will play. We
might even play other people's songs! I can imagine some of these shows
lasting for hours, if the crowd wants it to. Spread the word, we are
coming to play at your house.
       See ya,
       David ----- >From JT
How about steppin' up this "nude" discussion...what if Mike decided to
place this pic w/ full frontal nudity on an album cover?! ;-p Would anyone
put it past him to engage in such a feat?! Well...it *could* happen.
Here's why -- each of the "It's For You" shows will be recorded on DAT and
the best of the best will, after the tour, be burned to CD for a new
album, tenatively "It's For You." The album *may* have previously
unreleased material, but will definately have the greatest stuff from
Mike's upcoming tour (only 4 days 'til the first show).
So, if you want to hear your voice screaming out your requests, show up
at one of the gigs. If your friends are interested in becoming part of
77's history, make sure and get 'em to the shows...and...promoters, if you
want your show to make an appearance in the credits, pull out all the
      stops!
Btw, Mike also wants us to get the word out on that project he was
working on in LA last week -- Rich Young Ruler. Mike played lead for them
in the studio and the project was produced by Terry Taylor and Gene
Eugene. Mike said he was really impressed w/ their sound and has high
      hopes for 'em.

September 16, 1997From: Steve Johnson Subject: new t-shirts
      The Merchandise page now
has two T-shirts that are sure to go fast - the re-released "More
Miserable" shirt (they ran out a while ago) and the new controversial
"It's For You Tour" shirt which is rumored to have full frontal nudity of
Mike Roe. Film at 11. :-) Hopefully it's just a rumor because it would be
a tragic decision to make right when he was on the verge of making it big.

Right now it looks like we'll get Mike to NJ, then MS, TX, WA, OR and CA.

Still accepting dates as some of the above, undoubtedly, will not pan
out. However, the PA/NJ date, the MS date, the TX date and the 11/4/97
      Seattle date are pretty firm.

With enough time found along with the steady reminders from JT, I
finally sit down here to write you all about my experiences surrounding
      the trip to Cornerstone '97.
Only those of you on this email list and those of you who read this in
the future on the homepage (should Steve decide to archive this there
somewhere), will be the only ones to read this for several reasons, one of
which being I want this to be my words free of editorial control...so the
opinions expressed in the following belong solely to me, and are not
necessarilly the opinions of Mike Roe, or any member of The 77's past and
present (I hope that satisfies JT)...
"It Was A Great Tour To Be A Fool" (A Fool Realizes A Dream Pt.
      2) EMAIL ONLY NEWSLETTER Summer 1997
I had decided right after the "tom tom Blues Tour" to commit myself to
taking the guys' equipment to Cornerstone '97. I had never been there, and
it has almost always been the biggest draw for the guys every year since
they first started to go way back in '84 I believe. So, in effect I kept
myself unemployed from a regular job for almost another year just to go to
Cornerstone. I hoped that I would be able to meet several bands and maybe
hook up with one of them who may be out on tour, or maybe ready to go out
on one soon. Anyway, during this wait Bruce started getting heavily
involved in another local group here in Sacramento called "Zoppi", a
decidedly mainstream alternative rock group. During December '96 and
January '97, Zoppi signed a publishing deal with Warner-Chappell Music for
(are you ready for this?) $30,000!!!!!!! Thirty Grand! My Gosh! Why in the
world did they get this deal? Well, all thanks to their manager which The
77's are desperately lacking. So, I started to "road" for Zoppi, well
actually I should say I started to "road" for Bruce who happens to be in
Zoppi. At least I got paid, albeit not much, but it was money. They
(Zoppi) started getting quite a bit of attention locally, and finally
booked a showcase for all the major record labels in Los Angeles....the
same week I wanted to leave for Cornerstone! I couldn't leave until after
the showcase anyway, because Mike was going to use Scott Reams, Zoppi's
keyboardist on this Cornerstone gig, and I needed to take his keyboards,
plus Bruce needed to pack some of his things too. I was going to go to Los
Angeles with Zoppi, then right after that leave for Bushnell, Ill and
      "Lallajpusa"....
       "Glamorous" Hollywood
I left Sacramento for Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 24 at about 1 in
the afternoon in my little 4 cylinder Nissan Pickup, pulling a 4'X5'
U-Haul trailer full of equipment with no air conditioning!!!! And it was
HOT!!!! I sweat the entire 8 hour drive. I also didn't realize until I got
into L.A. that we would be staying at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood on
Hoolywood Blvd!!!! When I got there, checked in and had one of the bell
hops take me to the room, I had another surprise for me...I had my very
own room!!!!!! This was a $150/night room and it was ALL MINE!!!! This was
by far the very best accomodations I have ever had as a roadie....I guess
      snoring has it's advantages sometimes...hehe.
The hotel was almost right across the street from the famous Chinese
Theater, and you knew you were in Hollywood because they were filming on
the roof of the Hotel Roosevelt. Since all the production people tied up
the elevators causing almost ungodly delays, I decided to go up to the
roof and see what was going on. Bruce had just given me a new Drum
Workshop T-shirt and hat he got while touring the factory that day, which
I was proudly wearing, and which someone on the roof thought meant
something. I guess they thought I was a rep from DW or something because I
got free reign to roam wherever I wanted (The guys from the band were
immediately kicked off when they went up...I LOVE IT!!). This fall look
for a show called "Fame L.A."....I watched part of the opening sequence
filmed...when you see these dancers with tight tops squirm around in funky
light and smoke in time to some lame disco tune..I saw it filmed....when
you guys out there see the opening sequence and those female dancers,
you'll know why I wasted almost four hours on the roof of the hotel.....I
had a lot of time to myself while down there, I did do a little sight
seeing...didn't oogle at women all day....
Thursday 6/25, Zoppi had their first showcase at the Whiskey A Go-Go in
Hollywood. The show was pretty good, had a bout of nerves performing to
such an important crowd, but they got through it. Friday 6/26's show at
The Viper Room just down the street from "The Whiskey" was magical. Bob
Zoppi has an incredible voice, and when he gets into the music and really
starts bouncing around the stage, it makes for one heckuva show. They got
quite a response from this show, and are negotiating now with several
      mainstream labels....look for them soon!!
       God Is My Co-Pilot
Left for Sacramento right after the show, at 2 in the morning, alone
again..Don't remember when I got into Sacramento, but I do know I had to
hurry to get all the last minute things done, unload Zoppi's equipment,
and load Safe As Milk's equipment, take a short nap, and left that night
right after the Tyson-Hollyfield match...immediately tuned in every AM
sports talk station I could get and listened to how appalled everyone was
that Tyson bit off "The Real Deal's" ear, quite a positive way to start a
      cross country trip...don't ya think?
I spent a lot of time in prayer, listened to the entire Civil War Book
On Tape, a few select tapes I listen to...a.k.a. "Road Music" such as The
Boat Ashore, Joni Mitchell's "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter", a few
instrumental mood tapes I picked up along the way, and even Garth Brooks'
Greatest Hits, and spent a lot of time in prayer, oh yeah I already
mentioned that. Although I love having the hours upon hours to spend with
God, let this be my public statement that I WILL NOT DO A TRIP LIKE THIS
ALONE AGAIN...no way, no how...that trip made it two times within a year's
span that I drove 3 days and more alone....too boring..I do thank God that
I had no gas problems this time like I did during the tom tom tour, don't
think I could handle that particular piece of lightning twice!
       "CornerBlown"
Got to Des Moines late on Monday the 29th...almost made the whole trip
non-stop. I had gotten to North Platte, Nebraska when I called my buddy
Mike Webb and said I would be there in less than 8 hours...sleep
deprivation caught up with me no more than an hour later, I pulled over at
some rest area, crawled into the back of my pick up which was now covered
by Mark's shell and passed out for almost 12 hours....thanks Mark!! (This
would prove to be the first of many nights I would spend sleeping in the
comfort and security of his camper shell). So, after sleeping a few more
hours at Mike's house Monday night/Tuesday morning I got up and started
paging JT. He was supposed to already be at Cornerstone and have the "7's
Camp" set up, I was hoping to get a hold of him so that he could tell me
where on this large converted farm he was set up. I paged atleast 6 times,
and when it got to be 2 in the afternoon, I gave up and decided to head
out to Bushnell from Des Moines, a trip which I figured to be about 4
      hours.
Got to Cornerstone at about 6PM Tuesday evening, went to the check-in
trailer and proceded to let the powers that be that I had arrived with
band equipment, and would anyone know where the 77's Camp was?
WELL, my name was not on the band's list!!!! WHAT!!!???? I was also
supposed to be a volunteer to work the Encore One Stage, I wasn't on the
volunteer list either!!! They charged me $50 to get in.....I wasn't happy
already. So, I started to drive my little truck and trailer around the
entire festival grounds looking for JT. Please note that this was the
night prior to the festival starting, there were tons of people arriving,
driving around, walking around, the entire grounds was like a huge herd of
cattle roaming around aimlessly. I drove around the entire grounds no more
than 5 times which took me no less than 5 hours, and there was no sign of
JT that I could see. I asked several of the security people who were
driving around in their little golf carts if the had seen any type of 77's
sign or banner that JT said he would put up to mark the camp, none of them
had seen or heard of any "77's Camp". It soon got to be 11PM, it was dark,
no one in the trailer knew who I was since I wasn't on ANY of their lists,
and I simply could not find JT. Needless to say I was furious...it had
happened to me AGAIN....I got shafted again!! First no cash, now no one to
meet me. I felt extremely uncomfortable sitting at the entrance with MY
77's banner draped over the trailer in hopes that JT would walk up and
find me, but I was announcing to the world that I had The 77's equipment,
and I don't trust anyone...even if it is a Christian event with the band's
equipment. I sat at the entrance for about an hour sprawled out in the
back under Mark's shell thinking out the options that I had.....
       "I'M NOT GOING BACK!!!!"
I'm not a hot-head, and it takes a lot to get me mad, but by Midnight
on Tuesday I was absolutely in a rage. I was furious with the people at
Cornerstone for not having my name atleast on the volunteer list, and
charging me $50 (which was just about all I had). I was mad at Street
Level Artists (the band's booking agent), for not having my name on the
crew list...come to find out they DID have Don McKinney's name on the
list.....Don McKinney???!!!! He hasn't been involved with the band
actively for over 10 years!!!! How in the world could Street Level confuse
him with me?? I will never figure it out. I was mad at JT for what I
perceived at the time to be a gross lack of organization on his part, I
was just mad at the world. I called Mike, who luckilly wasn't home and
left the most angry and hatefull message I have ever left ANYONE....I
regret the tone I had now, and Mike has thankfully forgiven me for
basically calling him a dope. Anyway, the message stated that in no
uncertain terms was I going to stay there not knowing anybody, and that he
could reach me at Mike's back in Des Moines. I made the Cornerstone people
refund my 50 bucks and drove the 4 hour trip back to Iowa at about
midnight, with full the full intention of not going back to what I
perceived to be hell on earth until the band got there on Saturday.
I was woken up by a frantic call from Mike Wednesday morning begging me
to go back...I did have merchandise to sell and was technically loosing
money by not being there, but I was still adamant about not going back.
Towards noon I finally got the call from JT, he had driven back to Indiana
to pick up his youth group, and was at Cornerstone the whole time.
Unfortunately, we didn't know that his pager wouldn't work in Illinois, so
when he left and crossed the border into Indiana, his pager starts going
off frantically with all my pages from the previous day. After some mild
persuasion from a very calming JT, we agreed that the Cornerstone
organizers had their heads stuck somewhere unpleasant, and I would simply
ignore them and the commitment I had made to them to volunteer on one of
their stages, and just spend the entire time with JT and his group. I
drove back to Illinois that day. So I had left and came back within 12
hours and drove almost 8 of those hours...
I had beaten JT back to the festival, and easily found the "7's Camp"
and the sign he had out that no one on the security staff had seen,
although JT had spoken to a couple of them the day before asking them to
be on the look-out for me. I set up up my tent and began to relax knowing
that I wouldn't have to work a stage every day now, and try to sell some
      merchandise...
       Me And The Other Fools
JT and his wife Amanda brought 11 kids with them!!! At first I thought
JT and his wife had lost their marbles..How could they handle 11
tenn-agers??? But these weren't your average, everyday teens. They had the
fire of Christ in them and it was obvious. They got up early every morning
on their own to attend the various seminars that were held, as I found it
difficult to get up before 11. We did seem to catch on quickly though, and
had a great time swimming, tossing a frisbee around, and generally had a
      blast the whole time.
The whole group (guys and gals) became honorary 7's roadies for a week.
They helped me with the trailer, merchandise, and equipment, and each
received a one of a kind, very limited edition T-shirt which says "77's
Roadie Tour '97" on the front and in big bold letters on the back "It's A
Great Tour To Be A Fool". JT had them made up as a little special reward
for the kids helping me out. I developed some good friendships out of
Mike, Justin, Donlee, Cassie, Amy, Jackie, Josh, Steven, Andrew, Stacy,
and Rachel, and look forward to seeing all of them again next year
      hopefully.
The only bad thing I suppose with the camp was that we were too darn
close to the Encore 2 stage which had these really bad heavy metal bands
playing sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning....so none of us got an
      overabundance of sleep.
While walking around the Main Stage area On the 4th (Friday I think)
checking out the merchandise, and waiting for The Waiting to play, I saw
that Rich Mullins was scheduled to play because he had his merchandise
table set up. But I saw an old familiar shirt for sale there...The A-Train
shirt! I asked the guy behind the table "what's Aaron's shirt doing here?"
I found out that he would be playing with Rich, then I saw Jimmy A's CD on
the table, yep he was playin' with Rich too! I immediately walked back
stage...ran into Angie, Candida, and gang who had been looking for me for
the past two days (they were going to sell Merchandise for the band in the
Merch Tent), then knocked on the band's trailer, found Aaron and Jimmy and
proceded to spend the rest of the evening with these two guys and their
families....I hadn't seen Jim in over 10 years, Aaron in almost 5, so it
was a HUGE blessing to spend some time with them again...Aaron called Mike
later that night at the hotel and told him about our meeting and that I
hadn't changed a bit.."it was like it was 1983 all over again.." me
hanging out with him and Jim...it was GREAT!! The show was amazing, and to
be honest I would never have had Rich Mullins high on my "must see" list
of Cornerstone artists. Just seeing Aaron and Jimmy play was for me, a
      very moving experience.
       When The Boat Came Ashore
Mike & Co. arrived early Saturday evening to a waiting Donlee and I
who played frisbee for several hours at the entrance wasting time. Mike
and old pal Keith Rintala came down to our camp and held the campfire sing
along that we put together. It went rather well, so well in fact, that
Mike wants to make it a yearly thing (as long as the Cornerstone folk
      invite him back).
Sunday was spent getting the merchandise table set up in the tent and
tending to the needs of the band as they went through their sound check,
interviews, autograph sessions, etc. Met up with Brian Heydn and his wife
who were going to video tape the show, got them set up with a board mix
for his audio, a few people I was supposed to have shared my tent
with....we learned a lot from this experience believe me!!!
The show went rather well considering that this band had only rehearsed
less than a half dozen times. The crowd was all seated inside the
Compassion International tent, and really couldn't get into the show all
that much. Mike even mentioned during the set that it felt like a recital,
the crowd was polite but really didn't get into the show until the guys
tore into "The Stellazine Prophecy", and went bezerk during one of the
3...count 'em THREE encores when just Mike, Mark and Bruce came up and
rippped into some rockin' 77's tunes...here's the set list, including
      encores:
The Boat Ashore Billy Paul Said Blue All Over I Buried My
Heart At Bended Knee Love Like Gold Honey Run Some Kind Of
Dream The Stellazine Prophecy Tum Tum Tum I Want Never Gets
Encore #1 Ache Beautiful Flowers In The Sand Tall Trees
Encore #2 Nobody's Fault But Mine Go Your Own Way (yeah, the
      Fleetwood Mac tune)
Encore #3 Thanks A Million Ba Ba Ba Ba Ping Pong Over The
Abyss
       One GREAT Show!
I was able to get JT and the gang seats back stage just off of stage
right, so the guys were real close and got to see quite a bit!! They dug
and helped me out quite a bit that night. Couldn't have done it without
      them...thanks guys!!!!
After everything was loaded up, it was time for the band to leave, so
after another influx of cash into my pocket for gas on the way back, the
boat called "anchors aweigh!" and they were gone...off to catch an early
      flight back to California.
The End Of A Great Week
Once we made it back to camp, the guys and I decided it was still
early, so Donlee and I went swimming at the beach that closed hours
earlier. We snuck in of course, and after a few minutes were greated by
the rest of the guys who were on shore shooting off bottle rockets at
us...not directly at us, but close enough to cause some riotous laughter.
When we got out and dried off, we discovered that Andrew had brought a
whole grocery bag full of these bottle rockets that were several years
old. Some of them were duds, so instead of playing around with them we lit
them all off at the same time. I had brought a gas can for emergencies, so
the whole lot of us took the fireworks and this gas over to the main stage
area and piled the bottle rockets in the center of the bowl, once some gas
was poured on it I lit it before anyone was really ready. We were all
running frantically away from this pile of exploding gunpowder laughing as
hard as our winded bodies would allow. It was quite a spectacle, and
filled the entire bowl that was main stage with smoke...however, now that
I think about it....I deny the whole thing, it wasn't me, I don't know who
      did that!!!! (hehe)
Woke up early Monday morning to JT frantically packing away the group's
tents and related gear....I didn't feel like dealing with it all and just
threw the tent and whatever else was mine and not already packed into my
truck and trailer. We caravaned out to a Hardees or something and had a
"last lunch" together. I absolutely hate good-byes, so made this one as
quick as possible. I miss those kids...had a great time with them, and
will never forget the whole experience with them.....hope to do it again
      somehow next year!!!
       "Traveling Beautifull I-80"
That's a quote from two Post Cards I found describing the experience of
driving through Nebraska and Iowa. I am biased to Iowa, spent a few days
there with Mike and Robin and my little buddy Matthew before I started the
treck home, but I wouldn't describe the experience of driving through
Nebraska as "beautiful". I left at about 10PM headed home from Des Moines,
and I wasn't in Nebraska for more than an hour or so when I hit a huge
storm. I had just started on my drive and wasn't tired, but I couldn't
drive through this storm...I couldn't see the road. So, for the 2 hours or
so that I was stuck at some truck stop watching the power go off and back
on again to the rhythm of the lightning strikes that were eerily close, I
wrote the outline to this little diary...sorry that it has taken so long
to type, but now that I am closing this thing, I am noticing that it has
taken me almost 4 hours to write...with several breaks of course!!!!
Now that I'm back and have had time to reflect on the whole
experience...I had a blast! Although I have thoughts about the
organization of Cornerstone and Street Level, I can't hold much against
them for what I see as incompetence. That's all I'll say about the whole
thing..it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, so I'll shut up before I
      get in trouble.
I want to thank the guys in Zoppi for making my experience with them in
Hollywood by far the best as far as accomodations go, they're a great
bunch of guys to hang out with too. Also thanks to Mike, Mark, Bruce,
Carey, Michael, and Scott for making Cornerstone one that I won't soon
      forget!!!
So what's next Don? You may ask.
In less than a month, before Mike goes out on his tour we will release
our fourth newletter via snail mail....it's subtitled "Mark My Words"
because it will have interviews with original 7's drummer Mark Proctor,
we'll finish "Big Bass Balls" with Mark Harmon, and will hopefully have
something from former 7's keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Mark
Tootle.....chock full of Marks!!!! Look for it soon!! I promise!

August 4, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Where in the
      world is Don?
      Hello everyone!
Well, it's been a few weeks now since I've been back from Cornerstone,
and I have been grossly negligent in my email responsibilities; I
currently have over 150 messages in my mail box...quite a few dating back
to June. I will continue to stick to my policy of answering all of them,
however we are trying to put together a tour which means that those
messages get first priority. So, for those of you waiting patiently for me
to write you back I WILL..that's a promise. Please give me time.
I could write a novel as to the reasons why you haven't heard from me,
and to avoid boring all of you with the twisted details behind it all,
suffice it to say that I have been homeless since June 23. There was
nothing keeping me from going to Cornerstone this year, including a
landlord who couldn't tolerate my "Rock N Roll lifestyle" of being gone up
to 4 or 5 months a year. Thank God for Mike and my best friends
Tim&Jenny and their daughters Kylee and Coree, and their respective
couches and floor space....in a way I'm still on tour...the couch tour
'97.
But things are getting much better, I got a job installing windows with
Tim and his neighbor. Who wouldn't pass up the opportunity to work with
your best friend on this planet (besides Mike of course) and make good
money? I hope to have a secured place of residence within a week which
will allow me to get my butt in gear getting this tour put together with
      JT & Steve...
Look for an email only newsletter which will be the tour diary of
Cornerstone and my trip with Bruce and his other band Zoppi to Los Angeles
just prior to my departure to Cornerstone....I've got some GREAT stories I
want to share with all of you, just please give me some time...
It certainly was a "Great Tour To Be A Fool" :)

Fools of the World, 77's Ltd., and 77s.com are very pleased to announce
      the:
Mike Roe "It's For You" 97 Tour
It is for you, the fan, the die-hard, the individual who accepted the
88 raincheck to wait patiently for Mike to come to your town to play. The
"prayer and promise" has been answered! And, you have the opportunity to
      play promoter. Check this out:
How would you like for Mike Roe, and, on some stops, David Leonhardt
(former 77's guitarist) or Derri Daugherty (The Choir's frontman and
fellow Lost Dog) to play your home town, high school, youth group, church,
private party, wedding or living room?
Still breathing? How do you feel about entering a concert "promoters"
contest where you may have a chance to win an all request Mike Roe
concert, the shirt Mike wore on the cover of "All Fall Down," or some
      other really cool collector's items?
For some time, Mike has been wanting to do a tour for the fans, of the
fans and by the fans. As a result, the "It's For You" 97 Mike Roe Tour has
been initiated. Mike will be accepting serious (read legitimate) offers
for tour dates from late August through September 1997. Here's the deal:
this tour will not be organized by Street Level or any other "mainstream"
agency. Rather, this is to be the first set of Mike Roe/77's gigs
organized and promoted directly through Fools of the World, 77's Ltd and
77s.com! What an opportunity. How's that? Read on...
Are you interested in your city making the list of tour stops? Are you
tired of reading the concert schedule only to find the nearest gig is 9
hours away? Are you willing to do some serious promotion for the greatest
guitarist / singer / songwriter in recent history? Are you willing to set
up a concert venue and get the word out? In short, are you a die-hard? If
so, "It's For You!" You have the opportunity to be the local promoter
responsible for bringing Mike to your home town! What you need to do is
contact Don Bown or JT (or by phone after
7:00 p.m., central time, at (812) 886-4637) and tell us who you are, where
you live, what you can do to set up a tour stop, how many folks you think
you can get to the show, and where you'd like for Mike to play. You can
also write to us at Box 1441, Citrus Heights, CA 95611. Please, serious
offers only. And, you might want to drop us a line asap as the
      appointments will quickly fill!
After you've made the contact, we'll send you a promotional package and
a tour "checklist" to help guide your efforts, although we'll never be
more than an email or phone call away. Together, we'll firm up the date,
      contract, venue and other details.

July 17, 1997From: Steve Johnson Subject: New
      Quicktimes on website
What's this? I'm actually updating the 77's page? Can it be? Actually,
I never really stopped (you'll notice the Concerts page is always
up-to-date) - I was just busy being depressed about not getting to go to
Cornerstone this year so I did some heavy-duty bootleg watching. I've now
made a TON of new Quicktimes on the Movies page and also
added a couple of Sounds because the video
on those songs wasn't that great.
If you're wondering what in the world has kept me from spending time on
the 77's shrine, you may want to check out my latest website creation: Reunion Records. They have some
      very cool artists including All
Star United, Third Day, and Carolyn Arends that you may want
to check out (assuming you already have all the 77's, Lost Dogs, and
      Strawmen albums of course...).

June 21, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Chuck Berry
      Cancelled
Quite a dissapointment........Mike found out today that the promoter
for the San Diego gig with Chuck Berry on July 3rd screwed up and
neglected to tell Mr. Berry that he had a band to play with him. Chuck is
arriving with his OWN band now, because he assumed the San Diego promoter
had failed to book another group.
Mike is extremely bummed about the whole thing. I woke up today with a
message on my machine stating "Hey man, call me. Disaster has struck".
However, Mike may show up to Cornerstone earlier now if he can get the
ticket situation resolved. As it stands right now, Mike is out $600 in
airfare to San Diego on a non-refundable ticket. Pray that his travel
agent is sympathetic and works out some kind of arrangement.
       God Bless All

interested in being Chuck Berry's band for a concert featuring Chuck B.
      and Jerry Lee Lewis??"...!!!!
       Hello? Would they be interested??!!!!
So, on JULY 3, 1997 The 77's will back the legendary guitar player in
El Cajon, California...just outside of San Diego.
It's at a place called "Sylvan Casino" at 5459 Dehaso Road, right off
      of I-8 down there.
This will be a chance for those of you out here on the "Left Coast" to
catch the boys over the fourth of July weekend, and are unable to attend
      Cornerstone.
Speaking of Cornerstone...we're trying to get all of us "7's-Heads" who
plan on camping assembled in one general area (which we know may be next
to impossible), but Mike may come out Saturday night of the festival to
lead a late night campfire sing along....if you're interested in finding
out exactly where we all plan to congregate email "JT" at feavel@ns.kensco.net.
One more show to mention...a last minute sort of thing for me in a
way....THIS WEEKEND The 77's will be in Rockford, IL. SATURDAY
      NIGHT....PLEASE CALL STREET LEVEL ARTISTS......
That's all the news that's news for you to use for now.....
       God Bless
       Don

May 23, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Cornerstone '97!
      Hello again everyone!
Just wanted to write a quick note to everyone before the big Memorial
Weekend and try to get those of you on the verge of deciding whether or
not to go to Cornerstone to actually decide to go.
This year is kinda special for Mike because they asked for his solo
stuff to be performed this year, rather than The 77's material. We just
put together a set list this week and have made tapes of all the songs for
the new musicians we're bringing.....(Mike, Mark, Bruce, PLUS guitar
Wizard Michael Gregory, ace percussionist Carey Avery, and "the wonder
kid" keyboardist Scott Reams). The set list we put together is AMAZING!
Rehaersals for it start in two weeks, and we simply can not wait.....I
      hope you guys can't either!
If there is ANY way for you to go to Cornerstone this year.....DO GO!!!
The Mike Roe Group (a.k.a. Safe As Milk) will be performing on the
"Compassion Stage" Sunday night of the festival. In other words Mike and
Co. will be the last act of the last night at Cornerstone........this show
will be THE one NOT to miss this year....so if you have an incling to
go...PLEASE DO! WOULD LOVE TO MEET ALL OF YOU THERE!
       Have a great weekend everybody!

      Roe Photos!!!
      FINALLY!!!!
We FINALLY got a shipment of 77's band photos as well as Mike Roe solo
pics printed out on high gloss paper (the pics are B&W). Done by
Street Level Artists for promotional purposes, the guys bought a ton extra
      to offer to you guys!
       So here's the deal.....
You can get either/both promo photos (of Mike and/or the band) unsigned
for $3 each plus postage....(the pics are 8 x 10's so postage means an
extra $1.50 or so if you want to receive them in good shape). For $5 plus
postage you can get either/both photos personalized with the guys' John
      Hancocks signed especially for you!
This offer will be good for as long as we have them in stock (which
assuredly will run out before you know it)...so order today! (Or as Mike
would say at a moment like this "Buy! Buy! Buy! Spend! Spend! Spend!"
      hehe).

Greetings everyone from 90 degree plus Sacramento!! It's been hotter

out of the live CD "88"..it's out of print...no longer available...(Steve
will remove it from the online order form shortly). HOWEVER, for those of
you who have yet to hear this classic live rocker, we still have about 40
cassettes available, which we are still gonna sell for $5 each, so if you
don't have this album, print out the order form and order the cassettes
      before they're gone for good.....
One last thing....a fan by the name of Brian Heydn in Ohio sent me a
drawing he did of the 77's from photos he took while we were in St. Louis
for the tom tom Tour, I've sent it to Steve, so that should be up for all
to see soon...it's a GREAT rendering of the guys live!! http://www.77s.com/fans/

the results are in - and our efforts to stuff the ballots weren't
      entirely in vain: ;-)
       - Mike Roe got 5th place in two categories: "Favorite Male Vocalist"
and "Favorite Guitarist" - Mark Harmon got 4th place in "Favorite Bass
Player". cool! - the 77's website got 4th place in the favorite
websites category (which was my category idea - hee hee...). they came in
behind Jars of Clay, DC Talk, and Rebecca St. James, which is fine by me
because those are all excellent websites (well, Rebecca's graphics are
kind of cheesy) and i'm honored to be listed among them...
although - J. Warner - could you fix the link to the 77's page? you
have it as http://77s.com when it should be http://www.77s.com. thanks!
also - i discovered a new review of Echos in TLeM's Indies section: http://tlem.netcentral.net/indie/9704/echos_o_faith.html.

p.s. if you want off this list for any reason or are getting two copies
instead of just one, please send me e-mail and let me know.
p.p.s. did you know there are now over 500 people on this list?
p.p.p.s. did you know that 10 of those people have "77" in their e-mail
address? (besides those of with 77s.com aliases) cooooool...

March 28, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Logo Contest
Recently, a few of you have been sending me logos that you've designed
for "Fools Of The World", some have been pretty cool! SO, I've decided to
hold a contest of sorts for those of you on this email list!
Your task should you accept it : Design a new logo for the Fools Of The
World newsletter......it must be saved as a PC compatible .jpg, .gif, or
.bmp, and can be either in color or black and white.
Attach your logo(s) to an email and send it to me. MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE
"BINHEX" ENCODING, I will not be able to convert your image if you use
MIME or any other means of encoding.
NOTE!!!!! DO NOT SEND MORE THAN 2 LOGOS! I don't want my email server
to be full of redundant material. PLEASE submit your entries prior to the
end of April....this gives you guys a month to come up with the coolest
      logo!
OK DON, WHAT'S THE PRIZE? How about a personalized, autographed copy
of Safe As Milk on CD (PLEASE no substitutions)? And of course, the
winner's logo will appear (with credit) on the next Fools Of The World
newsletter, and may become the new, permanent logo!!
This will give you guys on Spring Break a chance to do something
creative, and give me the opportunity to work with a new design for the
newsletter. Now get to designing!!! (haha)

March 26, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: New Michael Roe
      song
This is a first in Mike Roe/77s history!
Last night Big Bass Stud Mark Harmon laid stand-up bass tracks to a
song Mike recorded during the Drowing With Land In Sight sessions. Word
has it that Mike wrote the song (titled "Audrey") for Aaron Smith's
daughter as a birthday present. Regardless of this, it is definately a
beautifull song and one that will rival "The Treasure In You" as one of
      his prettiest ever.
The historical point to this is that it will be the very first track
Mike has donated to a charitable organization! It will be on an album
called "Demonstrations Of Love : A Recording for the benefit of PRISM
Magazine" which I am guessing will be out in June sometime. All benefits
go to PRISM so that they may continue their magazine and ministry.
Other artists on this project are : Brian Healy (D.A.S.), Noel Paul
Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame), Derri Daugherty, The Choir, Steve
Taylor, Jimmy A, Randy Stonehill, and Rich Mullins...there were a few
others on the list but were unconfirmed.
I'll be sending Steve a sample of it to put on the web page soon (as
soon as I can get my DAT sampled to a .wav or .au) so you guys can
download 30 or 40 seconds of the song to see what it sounds like atleast.
Well, that's the latest from Sacramento.....

well as you Canadians are in for quite a treat in April!
Mike has agreed to tour with Canada'a own Perry And The Poor Boys all
month long, and the bonus is that they will NOT be playing all of Perry's
material during the show, they will also play a few 7's as well as some
      solo stuff from Mike!
Perry sent me a fax the other day with all the dates he has so
far....I've got phone numbers for all but one, and only a few addresses
(please direct all criticism toward Perry..hehe), anyway, this is it so

       >>>>>MIKE AND DERRI RECORDING<<<<<<
Last weekend, Mike and Derri (from Choir fame) both flew to LA to lock
themselves in some secret hotel down there somewhere laying some basic
tracks for the duos upcoming album! Derri brought a few mics, a small
board and his ADAT to record with...it's nice to know that even though
these tracks are being recorded in some hotel room, they will be of
atleast near digital quality! Mike will fly to Nashville here after the
Perry tour to continue recording. He already has 3 tunes ready to go, and
I'm sure Derri has just as many if not more, so I'm sure this album will
come together rather quickly once they get down to actually doing it...
       >>>>>>>The 77's<<<<<<<
As far as The 7's go, Bruce has started the ball rolling to record
another album. This will be the first 77's album since the Warehouse days
to be recorded piece-meal. They will be recording here and there over the
next several months, and will hopefully have something before
fall......Keep your eyes and ears open, because this album contains
another first...no major (or even minor for that matter) record label will
be backing this project. Plans are to release it on Fools Of The World,
which means it will be mail order only (like Echoes O' Faith). This will
truly be a 77's album made just for the fans!!! We plan on doing some
rather creative things with the promotion of this album (like maybe a
pre-release cassette of a few of the tunes,.....who knows, it's all in
planning right now). Be sure to keep your eyes on the web page....and on
these infrequent (albeit attempted frequent) emails, cause it may be the
only way to get this album (not counting True Tunes ofcourse!

      (Finally!)
[note from Steve - i just added some new stuff to the 77's page so
check out the "What's New" page and go exploring!]
I am pleased as pie, or should I say "milk" to announce that Mike
FINALLY has all the contract garbage over with, and we are expecting the
first shipment of 12 song "Safe As Milk"'s next week!!!!!!! Mike changed
the color of the original CD (which was a milky-yellow) to a "hot red", to
match Mike's (and all of our) anger over the rediculous ordeal of
re-releasing this. The old VIA label unfortunately remains on it, because
it would cost even more money to have masters re-done with "Fools Of The
World" as the label printed on the CD and cover, but ..... can't have it
      all sometimes.
ALSO, starting in two weeks The 77's will be performing EVERY Thursday
night here in Sacto. at JB's lounge near Cal Expo, if you live near here
and need more detailed instructions, feel free to email me..This is
exciting for me 'cause not only do I FINALLY get to go back to work
setting up and maybe doing sound every week, this means the guys are back
in the mood of jamming together on a regular basis, which means
(hopefully) they'll get the resources together to record another 77's
album! Mark has been writting TONS of material, and Bruce's obligations
with another local band are finally waning, and he too is back behind his
workstation composing new jams.......looks like the pendulum has finally
swung back in an upward motion, could be a good year!

January 14, 1997From: Steve Johnson Subject: Atlanta show
      back on!
good news for everyone within 8 hours of Atlanta! details below...
-------- from Mark Harmon: I know there has been
some confusion with this show. It does appear that we're going to do it
acoustically since Bruce has prior commitments. I don't think we're going
to use a "fill in" drummmer. We'll do it acoustically with David
Leonhardt.
Later, Mark -------- from David Vanderpoel <radioWDOT@aol.com>: Just wanted
to drop you a line and inform you that the show at Pterodactyl in Atlanta
HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED. As of today, Street Level, Pterodactyl, and Mike
confirmed that the show will go as planned on Sat, Jan 25. Opening up for
the Sevens are Loudflower and Crooked Smile, and tix are $10. To confirm
this, you may contact Petrodactyl, where I am house engineer, at
770.384.0003, fax at 770.384.0002, email at pteroclub@aol.com, visit the site at
      http://members.aol.com/pteroclub/index.html
Sitting in on drums that night for the Sevens will be Matt Goldman,
former drummer for Jacob's Trouble, and current drummer for Piltdown Man
      and The Hurst Peacock Soundtrack.
       Thanks, David Vanderpoel Pterodactyl --------
so there's still some confusion as to whether there will be a drummer
or not, but the important thing is that the show is still happening. i
sure wish i could join everyone that's going...

January 13, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: Atlanta show
      postponed...again
I regret that I must inform all you good folks near Atlanta, that the
show has been postponed once again. We ran into conflicts with other
obligations that the band members have......it is not cancelled! Just
postponed, I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything when this show
      will actually be.

January 9, 1997From: Don Bown Subject: New Year
      Beginnings...
Hello once again all! As with everything in life, I've been down and
out for a few ticks there, but I'm ready to go another round.... Cool
news on this front! (Even though Mike is still without a vehicle..) Mike
and Derri from The Choir are going to do an album together! No, not a Lost
Dogs album, a Mike and Derri album which is sure to be full of some
awesome harmonies! It hasn't been decided if they are going to record at
Derri's studio (Neverland) in Nashville, or our beloved Spray Bomb here in
Sacramento. The guys are still thinking of what to call themselves....any
ideas? AND it is gonna be released on The 7's label...Fools Of The
World...which means it will only be available at shows or by mail
order...keep your eye open for release dates...I'll keep y'all
posted! Mark and Bruce aren't keeping quiet either, there will be a
77's album this year...trust me. The "band" is getting over its annual
winter downtime... Well, The 77's WILL be performing in Atlanta this
month..on the 25th at The Teradactyl.....wish I had a number for you, but
I'm sure the club's number is in the yellow pages. Until next time
      all.....!!!!

January 8, 1997From: Steve Johnson Subject: Not much new
      going on...
well, things still seem to be pretty crazy over in Sacramento - Mike's
car still hasn't been found by the police plus some other problems may
have come up. i don't think Don Bown is checking his mail during his
"roommate crisis" so keep him in your prayers also...
if you haven't heard of The Lighthouse Electronic Magazine (TLeM) then
you should check them out sometime. i have links to all the articles
they've done about the 77's on the reviews page: http://www.77s.com/reviews/. they
have a survey every year to determine who the most popular artists were
for the previous year, and you can go vote at http://tlem.netcentral.net/. let's
show the world just how many fans Mike Roe and the 77's really have!
