Lo-Fidelity Presents: 77s Unplugged - Michael Roe & David Leonhardt
"Sticks And Stones" tour, March 2012

Lo-Fidelity Records is pleased to announce the upcoming re-release of the classic 77s album, "Sticks And Stones"... Out of print since shortly after it's original release, we will be offering the album in CD and digital format, available online and on tour in March 2012. Please stay tuned for further details in the coming weeks on the expanded track list for this classic album. In support of the release, Michael Roe and David Leonhardt are excited to again tour as 77s Unplugged where they will perform songs from "Sticks And Stones" and the extensive 77s catalog.

Michael and David had this to say about the upcoming tour:

"It's been nearly 22 years since the release of "Sticks And Stones” and it will be exciting to have the album available again and celebrate the re-release with the fans who have loved it and supported us for all these years. I am also thrilled to be able to come play these tunes for you with my ‘ol 77s pal David Leonhardt, as we have not appeared together as a duo since the “It’s For You” tour 15 years ago. Dave and I have always had a bit of ESP going whenever we perform and we’ve missed that magical musical experience (along with the ridiculous humor) ever since." - Michael Roe

"I am really excited to be playing again with Mike. We always have a great time together and our musical influences generate some interesting moments on stage. Sometimes it gets us in trouble, but we'll try to avoid that. "Sticks And Stones" being re-released brings back lots of great memories and it will be fun to revisit those songs on the tour. That album had some of the coolest songs from that era, and this tour should be a great musical experience with "Sticks And Stones" as the background. Can't wait to see all of you again!" - David Leonhardt

77s Unplugged is also pleased to be scheduled to play Cornerstone 2012. Lo-Fidelity Records will be releasing an expanded version of the classic 77s live album, "Echos O' Faith" in time for the festival. To celebrate the re-release and 20th anniversary of the original recording, some configuration of the original "Echos O' Faith" lineup will appear at the festival. 77s Unplugged is currently scheduled to play on the Gallery Stage on Wednesday, July 4th, at 9:35PM. Please stay tuned for updates regarding the Cornerstone performance.

Tommy Bolin Tribute Recording

The day after opening a show for Jeff Beck on December 4, 1976, Tommy Bolin died of a drug overdose at the age of 25. He played with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), The James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976).

We were approached in 2009 to contribute to a compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks written by the guitar legend. We enthusiastically accepted the invitation and now it’s available to you. The CD includes works by HiFi Superstar, Doogie White, Eric Martin, Troy Luccketta, Jeff Pilson, Randy Jackson, Rex Carroll, Rachel Barton, Derek St. Holmes, Kimberley Dahme, and The 77’s. A percentage of the proceeds from this project will benefit the Jackson Recovery Centers.

In the words of Doctor Love:

“It was a great honor to be asked to interpret and record an unreleased song from Tommy Bolin’s personal archives. We were particularly moved by his demo recording of this tune so we had lots of direct inspiration from the master himself to help us along the way. Tommy’s version was a southern down-home acoustic blues but I kept hearing T-Rex in it somehow -- Bolin versus Bolan! Eventually, we ended up veering more towards Mark’s southern roots -- Little Feat meets Dr. John at the crossroads -- outtasite ~~ : D “

Think of it -- you can sleep soundly knowing that The 77s have tucked away yet another meal, paid another month of rent, filled that tank with gas, and all because you purchased a download and said NO to the bootleggers, hacks, digital pirates, pickpockets and highwaymen!

Over the next few months, Lo-Fidelity will release installments of both 77s and Michael Roe albums onto iTunes worldwide as well as Amazon .com, EMusic, and roughly 25 other online stores. The first installment contains the following albums:

Holy Ghost Building

Lo-Fidelity Records and The 77s are proud to present the highly anticipated release of their latest studio recording, "Holy Ghost Building." Recorded over a 2-year stretch, the initial sessions were done quickly, much like Johnny Cash or Elvis recorded their early records at Sun Studios in Memphis. Mike Roe comments, "Those guys would choose a song, play through it to get the feel and arrangement, and while it was all fresh they would just roll the tape. Drawing from literally the same sources they did, we did the same thing.... choosing old gospel, blues and bluegrass tunes that said something to us as a band, and then recording them on the spot with no rehearsal....the only difference was we spent a couple years putting the finishing touches on the songs!"

While "Holy Ghost Building" could be called a "return to form" for the band, saying so would also sell short the new depth the band has found in playing these songs. The record has The 77s touchstones of rock and blues, but they have also included folk, slide guitar, Byrds-era jangle electric 12-strings, and vocal harmonies previously unheard on any 77s record. Mike says "When folks ask me what this record sounds like, I like to say 'Elvis, Scotty, Bill & D.J.' because we did it exactly the way those guys did the early Elvis recordings. It even sounds like them sonically here and there, but thankfully none of that was planned either, which of course makes me very happy. You can't plan those things without them often sounding planned, and I'm so glad we didn't. Even the one original tune we tacked on at the end of this project as a bonus treat for the fans was made up on the spot: music, lyrics, melody and all. Talk about risk! But that's how you end up with records like the ones I loved as a kid, and this one's got that sound and feeling."

The first pressing of "Holy Ghost Building" will feature a limited edition digipack packaging.
