77s Still Standing With Matt Nightingale

Some said that it couldn't be happening: that it was just publicity. And the fabulous 77s proved them wrong. Others said “They simply can't keep up this pace. Something's gotta give”. And it did. Before our lads could catch their breath from February's dizzying sessions with Jason Herring (out now - click on STORE for details), Mike, Mark & Bruce have now teamed with new Fools Of The World artist MATT NIGHTINGALE to help create a deeply personal and delightful debut album. Hailing from Redwood City, California, Nightingale delivers Still Standing, an album of remarkable passion and candid personal confession with a hefty dose of pure pop confection thrown in for good measure.

With Mike Roe once again at the helm as producer and guitarist, the unbeatable rhythm section of Mark Harmon and Bruce Spencer commands a colorful new landscape of pop and R&B foundations for Matt's soulful voice, memorable melodies and healing, heartfelt lyrics. If you enjoy artists like Seal or Third Day, a wonderful and worshipful pop experience awaits you here - one that no true 77s fan should be without. Expect a late September release when you click STORE right here on www.77s.com.

77s Back In Studio

In an historic and unprecedented move, The 77s re-entered the fabled EXIT STUDIO recently to lay down tracks for the debut album of new Fools Of The World artist JASON HERRING. Hailing from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Jason and his catchy 'alt-country' lyrics and melodies were a sure-fire match to Mark and Bruce's creative rock-solid rhythms and Doc Love's trademark strum und twang.

With Herring's time in California limited to one week, production schedules were tight, with fate dealing Exit Studio as the only facility available for basic tracks. Waves of nostalgia overcame Mike and Bruce as they spotted familiar studio artifacts from Exit's bonanza days dating back to the early 1980's when the boys were cutting as many teeth as they were albums.

Co-mingling with the ghosts of Charlie Peacock, Steven Soles, Nigel Gray, Randy Jackson and so many other talents that graced Exit's hallowed halls all those years ago must have lent a helping hand to the 77s mojo -- they managed to cut nine basic tracks in barely 8 hours - “just like the old days!” Mike cackled.

We'll keep you posted on release schedules for this exciting new project.

New Lisa Phenix CD

Fools Of The World Records is proud to announce the release of “Homegrown” by folk/pop songstress Lisa Phenix, her first for the 77’s label. Considered one of Sacramento’s finest singer/songwriters, the album is a charming collection of songs in the women’s folk/blues tradition. With musical influences ranging from Kate Wolf to Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin to Judy Collins, Lisa is redefining women's folk and blues with a sound so familiar yet all her own.

77s’ fans will especially thrill to the prominent presence of Mike Roe on guitars, Bruce Spencer on drums and Scott Reams on keyboards and percussion. The album also features longtime Charlie Peacock bassist Erik Kleven (Lie Down In The Grass), with superb artwork and packaging by Fools’ design stalwart Brian Heydn.  With Mike and Scott at the helm as producers, recording at the same studio that birthed The Boat Ashore, Say Your Prayers, Direct, AGFORC, Happy Chrimbo and others, Mike calls this album “one of the finest we’ve had the pleasure of being involved with.  Lisa is a great songwriter and knockout singer who really makes you sit up and listen to the lyrics.  And, you can dance to it!”
