<The77s> The new album is still in the process of being written...

<Papa_John> Mark, I love the Stawmen. I picked up your CD last week. Very nice.
<The77s> Papa_John: I'm glad you liked it. We're actually working on new material ...

<SOONER> 77's RULE!!!! Will the new album be more like drowning or tom tom blues

<The77s> salsa: beach boys, grateful dead, we could go on ...

<daman> Mark: I just have to tell you that your bass playing on Tom Tom was unbelievable.
<The77s> daman: thank you very much...

<Tacobor> 77's have more talent than most BANDS!
<The77s> Tacobor: thank you

<Papa_John> Mike, I really have enjoyed your heart-felt songs. I appreciate the honesty, especially when I knew that you were probably feeking that pain.
<The77s> papa john: thanks papa

<daman> Do you care to comment on what it's like to be one of the best bands in the world and getting so little (relative) recognition for it?
<The77s> daman: it beats stealing hubcaps

<grimace> 77s--->What new music are you guys listening to (if any)?
<The77s> grimace: red house painters, portishead
<grimace> no way RED HOUSE?
<grimace> that's pretty cool.

<mr_sharky> mike: the percussion on Boat Ashore really stands out to me, it seems much different than other stuff you've done, some say it makes the album really work , especially on songs like some kind of dream. Your comments?
<The77s> mr_sharky: different drummer

<dchuck> Is Mike Roe coming back to Toledo?
<The77s> dchuck: maybe on the 77's fall tour?

<salsa> 77s: Mike (or should it be Mr. Roe?) I heard a rumor about a jazz band called Safe As Milk. Can you tell me anything about that?
<The77s> salsa: this last winter we expanded the band (77's) to a six piece adding another guitarist, percussionist, and woodwinds.
<The77s> we played the 77's pop stuff like alone together, etc. also the safe as milk stuff like ache beautiful, stellazine ...
<The77s> it was a wonderful band- we hope to do lots more of it

<The77s> etan: Jan Eric dreamed it in is sleep and it stuck

<TimK> Why didn't you put the lyrics inside Tom Tom Blues?? Or on the web?? My wife can't figure out the words so she gripes when I fire it up.
<The77s> timk: we're trying to build a mailing list so we can keep in contact with our fans and the lyrics make a perfect bait
<The77s> we know its a drag but it has worked effectively for years and it is one of the most important aspects of what we do - keeping in touch with all of you personally

<CrazyBoys> please the difference in stories between Safe as Milk releases
<The77s> crazyboys: via told us that the distributor freaked out over those 3 songs and wouldn't release it to the ccm market - they compromised by allowing them to appear in the general marketplace on a different version - it has been the bane of Mike's existence ever since and he didn't get paid either!

<kim11> 77s: what is your email address??

<The77s> salsa: yes - did their latest album called "Saturn Light" - I'm trying to find them a record company - please help!

* _Mort_ thinks the 77s are too inhibited by their distributors... What are they afraid of???
<The77s> mort: not being able to pay the rent...

<Papa_John> Mike and Mark, I thought that the "Kicked in the ..." Line would have been fine. It's athe way the world phrases it and that was part of the point!
<The77s> papajohn: we agree wholeheartedly...
